Image of the pH scale from Novo Water

What is pH?

pH is a "measure of the intensity of the acidity or alkalinity of water on a scale from 0 to 14, with 7 being neutral" (1). When water is acidic (lower pH), there is a higher concentration of hydrogen ions. When the hydrogen ion concentration is decreased, the was is more alkaline (higher pH). The pH scale is logarithmic. This means that a pH of 10 is 10 times more alkaline than a pH of 9 and so on. The ideal pH for drinking water is _____.

What does it do to my plumbing?

If you have acidic or very alkaline water, then your water is corrosive. This means it can potentially damage your pipes, fixtures, and appliances. Damages to these end in expensive repairs.

What does it do to my health?

As mentioned above, acidic or highly alkaline water can eat away at your pipes. When this occurs, the metal your pipes are made out of gets leeched into your drinking water. This can cause a whole host of health problems that vary in ______ depending on the types of pipes you have. This should be taken very seriously, especially if you have lead pipes (1). Exposure to extreme pH values cause also cause irritation to the eyes, skin, and mucous membranes (2).

(talk about health benefits of slightly alkaline water if that's the pH the filter make it to be)

Neutralizing Filters

A neutralizing filter can be installed to regulate the pH of the water in your home.

(need more info on this)

Benefits of Neutralizing Filters

These filters eliminate corrosive water which prevents damage to your plumbing. By preventing damage to your plumbing, you are also minimizes the threat of metals being leached into your water supply.
